Does anyone have all of the answers to life's complexities? I don't know. Dare anyone say that they don't know. People, particularly people who have some kind of power, are supposed to have the answers. Doctors, lawyers, politicians, clergy, therapists, and the list goes on.
When we put the power into someone else's hands, we do not have to take responsibility for our own choices. Well, it is my doctor's fault that they missed this or that.
And it takes incredible courage to be in a place of power and to say, "I don't know the answer to that." People want instant answers, instant gratification, and they want their problems solved. Sometimes though life is messey. People are not perfect.
I think it is also important to remember that truth is something that is never constant. Some philosophers have debated whether there is anything that can be proven factual. We want certainty in our chaotic lives, but it does not often work out like that. Things are seldom what they seem.
Scientists have found that the DNA that is in our brains is has also been found on the moon and other planets. There are subtle connections that are beneath the surface that the eye cannot see. Sometimes we have to trust when someone says, I don't know. Sometimes we have to gather more information. Sometimes we must learn to be patient and wait.
Learning to say, "I don't know" and learning to hear those words from others can be empowering . It can release pressure from us from having to perform. It can release pressure from us from always having to get things our own way.
Let's take back our power today.
Peace.
