Death is a natural pat of life I have heard some say. This past week, a very close member in my family died. I was present at the moment of his death, and this is the first person I have been in the same room with at the moment of death.
I am honored that I was present with my family during this time of death because it helped me to awaken once again. This experience helped me to remember that each moment is precious whether we are 10 years old or 90 years old.
My family member had a very strong faith, but he waited until the "Last Right's" were performed on him before he finally let go and stop breathing. Ram Dass said, "Even senility can be an opportunity to strengthen the soul." My loved one was not senile, but he did love God.
I have learned about life and death through this difficult experience. Both are difficult. I knew the greatest gift I could give my loved one was my full pressence. I think that is the greatest gift that we can give to each other. It does not matter where we have been, what kind of mistakes we may have made, or how dark our past has been. If we are fully present with love, nothing else matters.
Dying is hard, but so is living. Let's learn to be more forgiving toward ourselves and others so we can bloom. Looking back with regret only takes up the precious moments that we have today)))!
Peace
