I grew up in an overprotective family. I guess to some extent they were trying to watch out for me. However, I had some wild seeds grown in me.
My father was a big man, 6'2" and the few times we butted heads, he won out. This made me rebel even more.
I am still something of a rebel today. I don't like conforming to other people's standards because I lived my life taking care of everyone's needs including my parents, and I did not know how to set boundaries and take care of my own needs.
I think perhaps that is one reason we have problems with bullies today. Because they grow up in families where their parents expect them to conform. If they do not conform, then punishment is levied against them in some form.
I think when God said, "The meek shall inherit the earth" he was saying we passive persons need to go out and take a stand. We need to set our boundaries. We need to get wild again no matter what anyone thinks of us. Part of being creative is let out our wild side. Part of being a disciple of God is letting out our wild side.
When I had my near death experience in 2008, I was given the message, stop worrying about other people and start living. I have already judged you, and now it is time for you to let your hair down and have fun.
So go out there and rock the world. Wear mismatched socks. Speak when you are supposed to be silent. Color outside the lines. Let cool aide dribble down your chin. It is all good. Get in touch with your wild side. It is divine.
