The Toaist sages of the past have explained that we are not willing to walk and look because we want to know everything. We want immediate gratification. We want things now.
I was watching a show on "60 Minutes", and they had a segment on about how Millennia’s are not prepared for the job force. Some parents call their children's employer because they are not happy with the evaluation that their child got from the supervisor.
Perhaps if we could all slow down a little, learn to breathe, and begin to appreciate what is around us our lives would improve.
Over the Christmas holiday, one of my relatives thought she had to prepare the perfect meal. She was hyperventalting and getting so stressed out. I asked her why she was feeling so anxious. She said, "I want everything to be perfect for my guests."
I said what is going to happen if it is not perfect. I ashed her if she could just calm down and enjoy the day? So what if something is not perfect? So what if the bread is burned a little? We are only on this earth for a short time.
We need to look take the time to appreciate the people and beauty that surrounds us every day. We never know when it is going to be our last day. And, we never know what a difference we can make in someone else's life.
Everything has a way of working out. If they do not come today, they will eventually come. We do not have to do every single task perfectly. If we can give ourselves permission to walk, look, and breathe the Universe will open up to us.
Peace.
