I have been going to a new church for a few months now. When you walk in the people seem like ordinary people, the prayers that are said are similar to the ones I was taught as a child, but there is something very different about this church that I have not felt at other churchs that I have attended.
Yes, for me maybe it is just a feeling, but that is enough to make a difference in whether I attend with my heart or whether I just go through the motions of belonging to a church.
The people and the pastor at this church are not perfect, and they are the first to admit it. But they are REAL and ALIVE. Just like the plants and flowers in this picture. You can tell when you walk into a house whether the plants are real or fake. The people in this community of believers are the real thing.
They wear their emotions on their shirt sleves. They profess their faith. They sing out loud, and dance, and rejoice. They speak their truth.
I think that is what we are all missing in our lives. We are missing the real authentic thing. Speaking our truth with one another, taking a stand, sharing our feelings with God.
Unlike these plants though, God will not wilt or shrink away. We can be real and our authentic selves and he will see our beauty shine through like a brillant blue flower. We are free to be whoever we are. When we speak our truth and become fully alive, we become the best version of ourselves that we can. This is our destiny.
