Making time for spiritual experiences

I shot a picture of this magestic waterfall on this warm November morning with birds singing and the sound of rushing blue water. After a couple of days of being uncentered, this brought me back into mindful pressence. When I look at a waterfall, it is almost a spiritual experience for me. It cleanes the negativity and the toxicity out of my system.
Waterfalls remind me that there is a whole world out there to be curious about and discover. A world that is at once new and also interconnected. Even though we may feel remote from each other sometimes and we may have a hard time connecting with certain people, it may just mean that we are not on the same path. It does not mean that one is bad, the other is good, one is wise, the other is not.
This is something that I have to remind myself of by going to the waterfall. Like the reflection of the surface of the water, it reflects back to me that I have some of the same traits and that I probably have more work to do on my own path. That is ok. It is a never ending process. It is easy to judge people or things that God puts in our lives. In the book Zen Miracles, Brenda Shoshanna asks, "Who are we to sit in judgment upon the incredible creation in front of our eyes? How is it possible for so-called religous men and women to claim to love God yet reject huge parts of Creation?
We are all interconnected and quick to judge what does not fit our expectations. All negativity placed upon others is really negativity placed upon my own mind. I am projecting this negativity and it is reflecting back to me. My practice is to learn to see the beauty in everything before me. I know this is a process that takes time. I will blog about my progress about this on this site from time to time.

Here is hoping that beauty is reflected back to you. Look for the good in others.
